Why weigh coffee to 0.1g precision?

With espresso, tenths of a gram make the difference in flavor. One gram more coffee grounds in the basket and your recipe runs differently. The Themis Ultra resolves to 0.1g and responds at 0.1g/s — fast enough even during extraction to show deviations immediately. The weighing range goes up to 2000g, so a full filter carafe fits on the platform.

How water-resistant is the Themis Ultra?

Overflowing brew water is the most common reason coffee scales break. The Themis Ultra is sealed to IP67 against water and dust: splashes, wet hands, and brief rinsing won't harm it.

The manufacturer does mention two limits, and we think that's important to know: avoid prolonged submersion and hot water or steam over extended periods. A silicone mat is included for hot carafes and cups — it insulates against heat and protects the weighing surface from scratches.

Timer and four modes

The scale is operated via two capacitive touch buttons, and the integrated timer measures your brew time directly on the scale.

Four modes cover different workflows: pure weighing, real-time flow rate, ratio display for your brewing ratio, and an auto mode that automatically tares when extraction begins, starts the timer, and stops it as soon as flow drops to zero.

Which apps work with the scale?

Connected to the BOOKOO N App, the scale records extraction curves: weight, time, and flow rate for every brew session. The scale isn't locked to the manufacturer's app: it communicates via an open Bluetooth protocol and also pairs with Beanconqueror, Odyssey Espresso, and the DEESPRESSO App, as well as smart machines and retrofit systems like Decent, Maro, Gaggiuino, and Gaggimate. And if you don't want an app at all: the scale works completely without one. Via the BOOKOO N App you only set the weight unit, sound feedback, splash protection mode, and auto-shutoff (default: 15 minutes), and upload firmware updates.

Our recommendation is Beanconqueror: an app that impressed us and which Ben also made a video about. With it, you store detailed records of all relevant parameters around your espresso or filter coffee extraction. You'll find virtually all our coffees and their data in the app as well.

Themis Ultra or Themis Mini — which is right for you?

We stock both Themis scales, and the choice is simpler than it looks: it comes down to space.

The Themis Mini measures just 80 x 80mm and fits on tight drip trays, under compact machines, and in your travel bag. In exchange, it only weighs up to 1000g and offers IPX4 splash-water protection instead of full water resistance.

The Ultra is the scale for a permanent spot on the counter: larger platform for pour-over carafes and servers, 2000g capacity, IP67, three values displayed simultaneously instead of two, and three times the battery life.

In short: Ultra for home and all brewing methods, Mini if every millimeter under the machine counts.

Battery instead of disposable batteries

Charging is via USB-C, and a full charge takes about two hours. The 2000mAh battery lasts up to 72 hours in continuous operation. In everyday use, that means: plug it in every few weeks, done.
