KM dosing ring 58 mm, magnetic
- Flush fit in the basket: The ring sits deep enough in the 58-mm basket that no dead space remains when distributing — the grounds lie evenly all the way to the edge.
- Stays secure during WDT and single dosing: The embedded magnets fix the ring to the basket; it won't slip even when needling.
- Coffee grounds land in the basket instead of on the work surface, especially when grinding into a cup and transferring.
- Fits KM baskets and standard 58-mm baskets; wide enough to break up clumps with the WDT tool.
- Side grip rings for safe installation and removal.
- For standard E61 brew groups and most dual-boiler portafilter machines.
What makes the fit special?
The ring sits deep enough in the 58-mm basket that no gap remains between the ring and basket wall. This gap is the problem with many funnels placed on top: grounds collect there and don't distribute evenly. Because the ring fits flush in the basket, you can distribute all the grounds on one level with the WDT tool or needle tool, all the way to the basket edge.
How does the ring help with WDT and single dosing?
Two workflows benefit particularly. When distributing with the WDT tool, the embedded magnets hold the ring firmly to the basket so it won't slip when needling. The ring is wide enough that you can move freely with the tool. And when you dose into a cup that sits completely in the basket, you pour the grounds over the ring and use a needle tool briefly until everything lies evenly.
Does the ring fit my grinder or portafilter?
The ring fits standard 58-mm baskets, such as those in E61 brew groups and most dual-boiler machines, and sits flush with our Kaffeemacher baskets.
An honest note about grinders with their own dosing ring: Some espresso grinders designed for ring dosing, such as models from Option-O or the P64, come with their own narrower ring. Our ring is slightly wider and is not intended for these specially narrowed outlets.
Who should get the dosing ring, and who shouldn't?
The ring makes sense if you can't grind directly and gap-free into the portafilter, but instead transfer grounds or distribute with the WDT tool. Because it sits flush in the basket and holds magnetically, you work more cleanly and distribute grounds more evenly without the ring slipping.
It's only unnecessary in one case: if your grinder already comes with its own matching dosing ring (see above). For anyone hand-dosing at the portafilter and who values a clean, evenly-filled basket, it's a clear recommendation.
